Mashable: Instead, they might just issue press releases on their website.

We've seen a few iterations of the iPhone during the course of Apple's product life cycle. This year, Apple replaced the Mini with the Max, and it seems the company plans to continue using the Max name just for its most affordable products. There may not be a Pro Max variant of the iPhone 15, but an iPhone 15 Ultra might take its place.

Mark Gurman, a well-respected analyst for Bloomberg, disclosed as much in his most recent Power On newsletter. Gurman has speculated that an iPhone with Apple's Ultra branding might debut as soon as next year. Mark Gurman, a trusted writer for Bloomberg, said today that Apple is preparing to replace the "Pro Max" iPhone with a whole new "Ultra" iPhone 15 model next year.

In addition, Apple may choose to forego holding a digital event to unveil the 2022 versions of the iPad Pro, Mac mini, and 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. Instead, they might just issue press releases on their website. In place of a digital event, Apple is "expected to announce its remaining 2022 goods via press releases, updates to its website, and briefings with select members of the press," according to Gurman. There had been speculation that Apple was planning a second autumn event in October, this one centered on the Mac and iPad, however, it appears that this may no longer be the case.

Using "Ultra" as a name for the most expensive iPhone would be consistent with Apple's other recent branding shifts. Apple's most advanced silicon processor to date is called M1 Ultra, and the toughest and most extreme Apple Watch to date is called Apple Watch Ultra.

Seeing that the iPhone 15 is still a year away, specifics are still quite scant; nonetheless, it is commonly assumed that Apple will switch to USB-C for the iPhones released in the following year. Also, the hole-punch and pill-shaped cuts seen on the iPhone 14 Pro may make their way down to the standard iPhone 15 models.
