Ever since the pandemic happened, individuals were forced to stay inside their homes. The day-to-day life came to a standstill. One of the activities that took a back seat was sports.

As the COVID-19 pandemic hit, sports activities were hampered, and fans were forced to abandon their tickets and watch from the confines of their living room.

The UAE has always been a fan of football and due to the pandemic, fans couldn’t enjoy the game from the arena and had to make do within the four walls of their home. However, as things have been opening up gradually, fans can catch this year’s UAE President’s Cup finale in person.

The UAE Football Association, in coordination with the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA), announced that the fans will be back into stadium at a maximum of 30 percent capacity to attend the final of the UAE President’s Cup 2021. While considering all precautionary measures, the match is going to take place on May 16.

Around 8,000 fans will be allowed to catch the match in the flesh at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain City. However, people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 will be allowed to attend the event. Fans must show a negative PCR test result and show the status of gold star or ‘E’ on the Al Hosn medical app, to be permitted to enter. The test must be done in the last 48 hours to enter the stadium.

The match is also being used as a return of the fans back into the stadiums for the next stage of the joint World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 qualifiers that will be hosted by the UAE.
