Mashable: Over 1.2 million visitors are expected in Qatar during the tournament.

Visitors would no longer be required to obtain a negative Covid-19 test before arriving in Qatar, according to a statement released by the health ministry of the Gulf Arab nation hosting the 2022 World Cup.

Previously, Qatar had instructed World Cup visitors to present the certificate of a negative Covid-19 test before traveling by plane or at the border crossing, regardless of their vaccination status.

Over 1.2 million visitors are expected in Qatar during the tournament, which will run from November 20 to December 18.

Residents of Qatar are no longer required to take the Covid-19 test within 24 hours of arriving home from overseas.

Also, the health ministry removed the requirement that adults show their Covid-19 status on the government-run Ehteraz contact tracing smartphone app before entering stadiums or other locations like shops and restaurants.

The application must still be shown by both visitors and residents in order to enter a healthcare facility, according to the statement.

According to a statement, Qatar is easing restrictions as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to reduce throughout the world and in the country, and the ongoing roll-out of Qatar's National Covid-19 Vaccination Program.

Qatar relaxed its mask regulations last week, and now only those entering healthcare institutions are required to wear masks.

It may be mentioned that more than 440,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 692 virus-related deaths have been reported in Qatar, which has a population of close to 3 million, as per data from the Ministry of Public Health.
